Improving Stomach and Core Muscles No 13

Stomach and core muscles are probably one of the most important muscles we have for supporting our martial art training:

1. They are an important part of our body-core maneuverability.

2. A main component as our core stabilizer.

3. Important for protecting our internal organs against body blows.

There are many ways to improve and train our stomach muscles, in the upcoming articles we will go over some of them.

Drill:

We assume the push-up position on a bench or stool or anything that will allow our legs to be at the same level of our shoulders. We then kick one leg to its opposite side, turning our hips while doing it, and keeping both hands on the ground. The kick is done in slow motion. Then the motion is repeated with the other leg.

Tips:

1. The amount of sets and duration of them should be decided upon according to our abilities and endurance level both (mental and physical).

2. This exercise helps strengthen our stomach, core and back muscles. This exercise is especially good for grappling.
